What Stock
In the financial market realm, owning stock is a big deal. But the really respected ones are those who know how to choose the right stock.
Stock is a step of faith. It is betting that a company will do what it claims it will do and will prove successful. Investors like to buy low and then sell when the company’s stock value goes up due to good performance.
I say all that simply to clarify what is meant when someone asks what stock are you putting your trust in. It could be another way of asking where your confidence is or what or who you are placing your faith in.
Hebrews 6:16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. 17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. 19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
Did you read and notice what it said?
Two immutable things. “God made an oath” and “It is impossible for God to lie.”
Why is it important that we know this?
It is the source of our strong consolation! It assures us that our hope is not fleeting or frail. It is an anchor to our souls.
Jesus is the High Priest of our confession! He is now High Priest forever!
In other words, He is taking care of everything pertaining to us. Is there a better stock to invest your life in?
God shows us more abundantly the immutability of His counsel. His counsel was to remove our sin through Christ’s death on the cross. His counsel was to make us sons through Jesus Christ. His counsel was to make us new creations in Christ, possessing eternal life. His counsel was to make all the promises He has made, yes and amen, in Christ.
All this is in the word of God and can be plainly read by any believer, and as it is being read, it needs to be with the understanding that God cannot lie, and His counsel is immutable! This is the best stock option that has ever been offered! What have you vested your life in?
